Church Picnic and a Cruise on the Maiden Voyage

Church picnic and a cruise aboard the Maiden Voyage on Aug. 21, 2011. Members met in the church basement for a potluck and chicken dinner after second service. Great food, as usual. After dinner 27 people boarded the Maiden Voyage at the McGregor marina for a 2 1/2 hour cruise. Captain Bob provided us with an interesting and scenic cruise. He told stories of some bits of history of the McGregor and Marquette area and the Mississippi. I even think a lot of the stories were true. At any rate, the cruise was really nice and very entertaining. The GOOD LORD provided us with beautiful weather. We did have a small shower at one point, but it didn't last long at all and certainly didn't dampen the spirits of anyone on board.

SPECIAL REQUEST FOR FOOD BANK

We have been informed that the Food Bank is desperately in need of food items. The cupboard is bare, as the saying goes. The shelves are drastically low on supplies and there are many neighbors in need. We have been told that there are many new people applying for assistance due to the economic and jobs situation in our country. Will you please help with a bigger than usual donation of food or money? Reach deep into your hearts and find the desire to help at this time of extreme need. First Congregational Church congratulates the Rippentrops on the birth of their daughter, Sadie May Rippentrop. She arrived on Thursday, June 30. Mom and baby are both doing well.
